Recently, VirnetX announced a $20 million investment from a Japanese private equity consortium. The investment comes in the form of common stock. The company retains the right to to repurchase these shares at a small premium. VirnetX agreed to a five-year deal. The agreement will form a strategic alliance which will allow VirnetX to launch Gabriel technologies in Japan. Gabriel technologies provide their customers with secure, encrypted mail, messaging, call, and other services. Included in the deal is a revenue share agreement. 

In addition, VirnetX Holding Corp and Apple have been fighting over patents for years. In October of 2016, a federal jury in Texas ordered Apple to pay more than $302 million in damages. Apple used VirnetX Holding Corp’s patented technology without permission. Most notably, its FaceTime video conferencing application.  

Furthermore, VirnetX Holding Corp shares increased 35.21 percent over the past week.  Shares rose 52.38 percent over the previous month. Also, the current market cap is 293.632M. Additionally, Blackstone and Vanguard are the top holders.
